Inspire the next generation of book creators and dreamers
Andrew would love to inspire the next generation of book lovers at your school. He’ll celebrate books, imagination and creative expression with students. Each session is tailored to the class age groups. Andrew would love to come and read Snuffy to your class to help them develop their love of books and reading and to boldly use their own creativity.
Help your class learn about writing and creativity
Your class will learn about writing and being creative when they participate in the interactive sessions. They’ll discover they have great ideas and can use a few simple tips to help them improve their stories. You can also book a workshop. Have a look at Andrew’s children’s writing workshop where children will get practice in using writing techniques and more importantly, have lots of fun!
The sessions
Andrew has sessions tailored for Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 classes. Your students will learn about things like how picture books go from idea to a product on the shelf, about how they can use their creativity and unique skills in life and learn some practical tips in creating their best stories by using their imagination, their unique experiences and interests and combining it with storytelling techniques.
Andrew is happy to suggest recommend some sessions for you. Andrew also has a combined author / illustrator visits with Snuffy’s illustrator Jenni Goodman if you’d like your kids to understand the teamwork behind making a picture book and learn both writing and illustration techniques and tips.
Andrew will visit your school in Lake Macquarie, Central Coast, Newcastle and surrounds. But also can visit interstate or regional schools, so contact Andrew and he’ll try to make it work for you! How much does an author visit cost?
Andrew uses the Australian Society of Authors recommended rates of pay to compensate for preparation, time, travel, resources etc.
What age groups does Andrew cater for?
Andrew predominantly caters for preschool through to stage 2 students but can be flexible based on your needs.
Does Andrew travel to regional or remote schools?
Absolutely! However there is an extra travel cost based on the Australian Society of Authors recommended rates of pay. Contact for a obligation-free quote.
How far in advance should we book, especially for Book Week?
The later you book, the more you risk missing out during the popular CBCA Book Week celebration. However, Andrew can also take bookings other times throughout the year.
Does Andrew offer sessions for early childhood/preschool as well as primary school?
Yes! The preschool and daycare / early learning sessions are usually shorter and quite simple to cater to the younger audience.
